Liquid screed — also called flow or self-levelling screed — is pumped onto your floor as a fluid and finds its own level, settling into a flat, even surface with almost no hand-trowelling. It is the modern choice for fast programmes and underfloor heating, where a traditional sand-and-cement mix simply cannot keep pace.
We pump straight from the wagon through a hose, so upper floors and awkward layouts are reached without barrowing. A 200m² floor can be poured in a couple of hours rather than the best part of a day.
How it works
Once the substrate is prepped, insulation laid and edge foam fitted, we mix the screed to a precise consistency and pump it across the bay. A dappled levelling bar is worked over the surface to release air and confirm the level — from there it self-finishes. No power-floating, and no joints to cut into domestic bays.
Drying and foot traffic
Most liquid screeds take light foot traffic in 24–48 hours. Full drying before floor coverings depends on thickness, ventilation and the screed type — as a guide, allow roughly one day per millimetre for the first 40mm, then longer beyond that. We give you a realistic programme for your specific floor and can advise on force-drying when the schedule is tight.

Common questions
Is liquid screed better than traditional screed?
For underfloor heating, large areas and fast programmes — usually yes. It encapsulates UFH pipes better and pours far quicker. For small bays, repairs or very low build-ups over a bonded base, traditional screed can still be the right call. We recommend honestly based on your floor.
How soon can I tile or lay flooring?
You can walk on it within a day or two, but floor coverings must wait until the screed is dry enough — measured, not guessed. We test moisture and confirm when it is ready, rather than risk covering a damp slab.
Will it crack?
Properly designed, laid and cured liquid screed is very stable. We fit movement and edge detailing correctly and protect the floor while it cures — which is exactly where most cracking problems actually start.
